
Philippine School of Business Administration – Manila Wins Regional Gawad KALASAG Award, 2019
July 30, 2019 – The Philippine School of Business Administration – Manila (PSBA-Manila) wins the Regional Gawad KALASAG Awards 2019 for the Higher Education Institution category in the National Capital Region. The Gawad KALASAG (KAlamidad at Sakuna LAbanan, SAriling Galing ang Kaligtasan) Award is the country’s premier recognition scheme to various stakeholders that design and implement Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) programs that protect high-risk communities against hazards and improve capacity to addressing their vulnerabilities and coping from disasters. This was second year PSBA-Manila won the award for the Higher Education Institution.

The Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRMC), Office of Civil Defense (OCD), National Capital Region (NCR) held the 2019 Gawad KALASAG Award Ceremony for NCR, Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at the Dimalupig Hall A, Armed Forces of the Philippines Commissioned Officers Clubhouse, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City. PSBA-Manila was represented by Dr. Jose F. Peralta, President of PSBA-Manila and Dr. Tabassam Raza, Director of the Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Unit and Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Business. The award was given by MGen. Romulo M. Cabantac Jr., Regional Director of OCD-NCR, and Director Col. Amante Salvador, Metro Manila DRRMC. PSBA-Manila, being a partner of Quezon City, was also accompanied by Hon. City Mayor Josefina Belmonte-Alimurung in receiving the award. Dr. Peralta and Dr. Raza was accompanied by Engr. Ernie Lopez, Senior System Analyst; Mr. Ramon Iñigo M. Espinosa; Assistant Manager for DRM and Information Communication Technology (ICT) Projects and Researches; and Mr. Kennedy Lim, ICT Technical Assistant.

The PSBA-Manila partner Quezon City Government has also won the regional Gawad KALASAG Awards 2019 as Best City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Council (Highly Urbanized City Category) and Government Emergency Management Services, which were received by Hon. Mayor Joy Belmonte-Alimurung and Quezon City DRRMO Head Mr. Karl Michael Marasigan.
